Since 2006, Arjan Mol is Associate Professor ‘Corrosion Technology and Electrochemistry’ at the Materials Science and Engineering Department of Delft University of Technology. After finishing his MSc in Aerospace Engineering in 1996, Arjan Mol obtained his PhD at Delft University of Technology in 2000 on “The effect of microstructural inhomogeneities on filiform corrosion of aluminium alloys”.
In the period of 2000-2006 Arjan Mol was project and team leader at the Dutch Institute of Applied Scientific Research TNO in the research area of lifetime performance of materials. Nowadays Arjan Mol is research leader of several national and EU funded research projects focused on local corrosion of light metals, Cr(VI)-free surface treatment of metals and interfacial bonding of coatings and adhesives as well as the evaluation of Cr(VI)-free corrosion inhibitor technologies for anti-corrosive coatings.
Furthermore, after having served as Chairman of the Science and Technology Advisory Committee Arjan Mol is now Vice-President of the European Federation of Corrosion EFC and Member of the Scientific Committee of the yearly European Corrosion Conference EUROCORR. Arjan Mol is also the Dutch representative Member of the International Corrosion Council ICC.
